CLIENT SPOTLIGHT

Over the last several months, we’ve had the pleasure of taking on new work with the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) — leading a cohort of early career neurologists through a nine-month program, providing both virtual and in-person group training sessions, co-active coaching conversations and sessions, and more.

The program tackles topics like personal and professional development, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), purpose-centered leadership and boundary setting and negotiation skills.

ELP is built on discovering the context of physicians’ challenges in leading today, developing effective relationships and leading change in a more complex and diverse workplace. This program provides the development framework and tools for this cohort to achieve their leadership potential.

CEO CORNER

The world has just experienced and ended the most glorious and joyous time of the year. However, ‘stress’ and ‘holidays’ can be seen as synonymous for some. In fact, 89% of U.S. adults say concerns about not having enough money, missing loved ones, and anticipating family conflict cause them stress at this time of year, according to APA’s 2023 holiday stress survey.

Even the most joyous time and season of the year can stress and present conflict for the happiest of people. Stress can present itself in a myriad of ways both personally and professionally. As leaders in organizations, it is imperative to develop strategies to help mitigate stress and maintain productivity during the holiday season.

According to Paola Cecchi-Dimeglio (2023 Dec 12), some practical approaches to support employees during the holiday season in the workplace include the following:

  • Open Communication and Feedback

  • Inclusive Celebrations

  • Flexible Scheduling and Time Off

  • Managing Workloads Proactively

  • Personalized Appreciation

While the holidays may be over, some feelings of stress, anxiety and conflict may still be alive and well in your workplace. Take a lesson learned from Paola Cecchi-Dimeglio and utilize these practical approaches with your staff.
